~*~ Anyone wants to be an entrepreneur? ~*~
Took bus 179 to school early in the morning today despite it being a Saturday (=rest day).
Watched LifeStory on Nanz Chong-Komo. I remembered going to One99 stores to hunt for cheap and good quality stuff and for the toppings for baked rice with my secondary school friends. There used to be many outlets in Singapore but all of the sudden, the stores were gone due to SARS and business being in huge debts in 2003.
Here is her personal website: http://nanzchongkomo.com/
Woman entrepreneurs wanna-be, you may wish to consider reading her book titled "One Business 99 Lessons". I am thinking of getting this book to read to broaden my horizons and learn a bit on setting up a biz. Wahaha~ She was named the Woman Entrepreneur for the Year 2000. Don't pray pray ah...
A section of an online article on her....

She opened her first One.99 shop in The Heeren on Orchard Road in 1997 and, in seven years, grew it into a chain of 14 stores selling a whole range of merchandise at the flat price of $1.99.
At the height of its success in 2001, turnover hit $14 million. Then Sars hit. Business halved, and in April 2003, when it owed $3 million to her bank and other creditors, she closed the business. The Woman Entrepreneur of The Year 2000 was declared a bankrupt five months later.
'I used to be a model and businesswoman, but being a writer is the last thing I thought I'd be,' she says. 'Let's face it, nobody's going to buy the book because I'm a writer. It's my experience running and then losing a business that people will find interesting, and I want to share that.'
